God is Deeply in Love with Us!
On the evening of the first day of the week, when the doors were locked where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit…” (John 20:19-22)
The Catechism of the Catholic Church calls Confirmation the Sacrament of the Holy Spirit, where the baptized are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and strengthened for service to the Body of Christ, called to carry on the mission of the resurrected Christ to the world, through the power of the Paraclete, who will not leave us orphans. Those who are confirmed breathe the Life of the resurrected Christ to their sisters and brothers. At Holy Spirit Parish, 12th graders are confirmed with preparation starting in the spring of their 11th grade year Confirmation the following winter usually in January/February.
